Joseph Jones is a WW2 veteran aged 94 who lives in Rowley Regis in the West Midlands. Joseph served in the navy on a destroyer escorting merchant ships on the treacherous Arctic Convoys that took supplies to the Russians as part of the Lend-Lease program. Russia recently awarded him a medal for his part in the supply convoys.
He invited me into his home and allowed me take photographs for a project called “Where our spake gone?” That explores the changing words of the Black Country dialects. Continue reading
